Super Smash Bros. (大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ, Dairantō Sumasshu Burazãzu) is a series of party fighting game created by Nintendo crossing over many of its intellectual properties. Starting with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, characters and properties from non-Nintendo-owned series began appearing as well.

Material from the Baten Kaitos series, specifically Baten Kaitos Origins, has appeared in two separate Super Smash Bros. titles.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

A remix of The valedictory elegy, the standard battle theme for Baten Kaitos Origins, appears as an unlockable track. It was remixed by Baten Kaitos series composer, Motoi Sakuraba, though it is considerably shortened in terms of length when compared to the original track. Fittingly, it appears on Gaur Plain, a stage representing fellow Monolith Soft series Xenoblade Chronicles.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The remix of The valedictory elegy from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U reappears, this time both from the start instead of needing to be unlocked, and as part of the "Other" category of music applicable to stages without a proper list of music (Summit, Hanenbow, Balloon Fight, Living Room, Find Mii, Tomodachi Life, PictoChat 2, Duck Hunt, Wrecking Crew, Pilotwings, and Wuhu Island), and, as of update 8.1.0, Battlefield, Small Battlefield, Big Battlefield, and Final Destination.

The game additionally features collectible Spirits, power-ups represented by various characters from a number of different series that are primarily unlocked via Spirit Battles that pit the player against AI-controlled opponents in battles that reference aspects of that character's game(s) of origin. Sagi and Milly appear as collectible Spirits, both with their own Spirit Battles.

Trivia

  • Lucina, who represents Milly in her Spirit Battle, is coincidentally also voiced in Japanese by Yū Kobayashi.
    • Furthermore, both her and Sagi's Spirit Battles take place on Gaur Plain, likely in reference to the shared developer that Baten Kaitos and Xenoblade Chronicles have.
